Who We Are
Liberty Springboard are a CIC empowering and enabling women overcome barriers to reach their maximum potential
We believe the cycles of the past can be broken;
''Our History is Not Our Destiny''.
"Female offender supervision costs £52,000 per year, excluding broader social and family impacts. Liberty Springboard provides a community-centered approach at £1,300 per woman, addressing root causes like substance misuse, abusive relationships in a non-judgmental, women only space essential for engagement and positive."
"Women in the criminal justice system often face trauma, abuse, and disadvantage, with many being primary caregivers. Maternal incarceration impacts around 17,000 children annually, increasing their risk of future adversity. Addressing women's needs is key to breaking trauma cycles and promoting family stability for long-term outcomes."
"The UK has one of the highest female imprisonment rates in Western Europe, with women comprising only 4% of the prison population. Of these, 72% are in custody for non-violent offences, often serving sentences of less than 12 months. Such short sentences disrupt families and limit rehabilitation, highlighting the need for community-based."
